2 Days Till Falling For You At Christmas...Pre-order today for a chance to win!

Falling For You At Christmas is almost here and I thought you might like to meet the main characters. It’s fun to imagine what the characters look like. Of course, they reside in my head so it’s hard to translate that to flesh & blood people. I do go through the exercise of looking for images that “could” be my characters, though, especially when it comes time to promote a book.

So, today I’m going to introduce you to

Cassie & Jared…

And here’s a bonus excerpt that gives you an even better idea of just how hot Jared Latham is…

Cassie spotted Jared jogging up the beach. An involuntary breath of feminine appreciation escaped before she could stop it. She was vaguely aware of Henry’s knowing chuckle beside her, but everything else faded against the sight of Jared Latham’s long limbs churning along the sand. Every muscle and sinew flexed and bulged. She might have whimpered out loud.
“Go get him, dear,” Henry murmured in her ear. Then he was gone, but again Cassie hardly noticed. How could she when male perfection was literally coming closer? Jared had spotted her and shifted his path.
“You’re up early,” he said. “Most people are still swaddled in their beds at this time.”
Jared really shouldn’t mention beds when he looked so hot and sweaty and delicious. She really should have prepared better for such an encounter. Girded her loins and her senses or something.
“Couldn’t sleep,” Cassie managed to spit out.
There was a little bead of sweat meandering down the side of his perfectly formed shoulder, and Cassie wanted to wipe it off…or lick it off.
Gah! Stop that!
“You okay?” Jared asked, his brows pinching together in a frown.
“Yes, I’m fine.”
“Really? Your cheeks are red.”
That’s pure grade lust.
“I’m really okay,” Cassie said. “How are you?”
“Hot…” Jared groaned a little.
Yes…yes you are.
“Hard to believe it’s Christmas Eve, and I still can’t make it through a run without sweating through my shirt,” Jared said.
Cassie thanked God for the Florida winter that kept Jared Latham hot and bothered. She would have paid the Almighty to ramp up the heat so the shirt would come off completely if such a bribe were possible.
“Mmm…” Cassie murmured because he seemed to expect some response.
Then Jared did the most amazing thing. He used the bottom of his shirt to wipe his face. A move that exposed rock hard abs, a true six-pack complete with an impressive V. Cassie had wondered if such a physique actually existed outside of movies or magazines featuring models that had to be photo manipulated to look that way. Cassie also noticed every member of the yoga class had stopped mid-pose to stare. Two actually fell over in an attempt to get a better look.
Cassie herself might have whimpered out loud again, although maybe it wasn’t quite a whimper because Jared instantly knelt down in front of her.
“You’re not all right,” he said. “Are you in pain? Should I call someone?”
“Definitely not in pain.” Cassie shook her head to dislodge the dangerously lust-filled thoughts. “I was enjoying the show.”
“What show?” He glanced over his shoulder. “The yoga class?”
“No, the one where you lifted your shirt, giving me and all those stretchy ladies over there a morning they won’t soon forget.” She glared at a skinny woman with obvious implanted D cups, who was staring at Jared like a panther ready to pounce. “I think I know why they choose this spot to hold their class now.”
His grin turned positively wolfish. “You liked that?”
“The whole world liked that,” Cassie said. “I think the seagulls even stopped to watch. It was that impressive.”
“Glad I could get your day off to a nice start.”

3 Days Till Falling For You At Christmas

I can feel the excitement rising as the day gets closer. Only TWO DAYS till you can own FALLING FOR YOU AT CHRISTMAS for ONLY 99 cents!!!

When I set out to determine an idea for a new Christmas story, I began toying with the notion of writing a modern day “First Christmas” tale…as in Jesus, Mary & Joseph, in a stable, in Bethlehem.

The phrase “no room at the inn” kept ringing in my head. It wasn’t long before Cassie Stephens emerged. A young, single woman who is weeks away from giving birth decides to take a vacation…only her room reservation is lost.

Then I had to create a supporting cast with names suspiciously similar to those that appear in the Nativity story.

-Amelia Lamb, a widow & retired labor/delivery nurse
-Rick & Juliet Shepherd, a long-time married couple
-Henry “King” Stuart, a successful auto dealership owner (His catch phrase is “The King of the Deal”)

The staff at the inn also carries the theme, with Chef Gabrielle Velazquez (yep I made a female archangel) and her father Jésus. (For those who are not familiar, that is a actually very popular Hispanic name, only it’s pronounced “Hey-sus”. You’ll even see girls with the name occasionally, especially as middle name such as Maria Jesus.)

I know you’ll have fun meeting all of these wonderful supporting characters. Amelia & Henry even get a little romance of their own, which is sweet.

But you can’t meet them unless you BUY THE BOOK!

What's it about?

Falling For You At Christmas is the story of Cassie Stephens, a soon-to-be single mother who is looking to experience some holiday cheer before her baby girl is born. She decides to take a vacation in the sleepy Florida town of Shellwater Key. She books a room at The “Original” Inn on the Strip, but “oops” her reservation is lost. Fortunately, the handsome (and single) owner of the inn, Jared Latham, offers to let Cassie stay with him and his young daughter, Tara. That’s wonderful…except Cassie could now be in danger of falling for the innkeeper.

Here’s a sneak peek at the moment Cassie & Jared meet.

When Cassie walked out a minute later, she spotted the man who’d been behind the desk, pacing a few feet away. She hadn’t paid much attention to him earlier, but now she did and…wow!
Tara’s dad – it couldn’t be anyone else since he was wearing a groove in the wood floor with his frantic pacing – was drop-dead gorgeous. Men’s magazine cover-worthy hotness. He was tall, with tousled dark-blond hair falling over his forehead. Cassie’s gaze swept down, taking in the light-blue work shirt and molded jeans encasing a butt that was as close to perfection as she’d ever seen.
Her baby girl jumped in apparent excitement at the sight of the most beautiful male specimen she’d encountered in some time. So did Cassie’s heartbeat.
She rubbed her stomach. “Down girl,” Cassie murmured. “He doesn’t belong to us.”
No doubt Tara’s dad had an equally gorgeous wife somewhere. Probably waiting around the corner to make sure no predatory females tried to poach her delectable man.
Mr. Gorgeous stopped pacing and swung toward her. She was confronted with eyes the color of the summer sky on a clear day. Cassie almost shielded her own eyes lest the brilliance of those blue orbs damage her retinas or make her fantasize about things she had no right thinking. Not with a baby coming in a few weeks…and not when there had to be a Mrs. Gorgeous lurking in the shadows.
Right now, his beautiful eyes were staring at her with a mixture of panic and horror, which worked to break the haze of attraction. Right. Tara’s dad thought she’d been about to give birth in the bathroom stall.
“There you are.” He ran a hand through his hair. “I’ve been out of my mind.”
“I’m fine.” Cassie fought the urge to smooth his hair back into place. Or tousle it some more. Any excuse that would allow her to touch him. “No babies on the way yet.”
“Babies?” His gaze slid down to her belly. “You’re not having…”
Gah! Did she look like she was carrying multiples? Cassie felt as big as a horse these days, but she hoped that was mostly in her own mind.
“No, there’s only one,” Cassie said. “Unless Baby Girl Stevens is hiding a twin somehow.”
“Cool!” Tara appeared at her dad’s elbow. “You’re having a girl?”
“Yeah.”
“Do you have a name picked out yet?”
Cassie wrinkled her nose. “No.”
The name problem continued to plaque her. She’d been wracking her brain, reading baby name books, looking online, going through the Bible and every book of classic literature she could find, but so far she was stuck. Cassie had decided she’d probably have to wait until her daughter arrived and hope a name would come to her then.
Tara’s dad took a few steps closer. “Well, if you’re sure everything is fine, why don’t I get you checked in? I’m sure you want to go to your room and rest for a bit.”
Seriously? First, she was the size of a barn door, and now pale and sickly? The one quick glance in the mirror a moment ago had assured that her long dark hair still mostly remained in the bun she’d created this morning. Yes, she had purple smudges under her brown eyes, but nothing too alarming.
“Do I look like I’m about to keel over?” she asked, with a growing irritation. Here she was practically drooling over Mr. Gorgeous, and he thought she was a fat, tired-looking old hag.
“No, you look beautiful.”
The words seemed ripped from his mouth, and they hung in the air for a moment like a downed power line sizzling in the street. Mr. Gorgeous’ blue eyes went even wider, and he swallowed. “Sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry,” Cassie said. “I’ve been feeling like a beached whale for the last couple months. It’s nice to know I’m not totally hideous.”
His lips stretched into a grin that seemed connected to his eyes. “Definitely not hideous.”
Oh, he needed to stop doing that. A grinning Mr. Gorgeous threatened to fry all her brain cells, making it almost impossible to resist jumping him, something Mrs. Gorgeous might object to.
