Setting Goals for 2015
So
it’s 2015 and time for a fresh start. It’s a time two make new goals.
For me it's writing goals. Whether I success in those goals...well that's
another matter. Last year, I had the grand idea that I would write FOUR books
in 2014.
Confession…I
did not come close.
I
finished one book BY CHRISTMAS, which I ended up self-publishing as part of a holiday box set with 13 other authors. Then I put it out as a single book. It was my
first foray into the world of indie publishing so there was a big learning
curve, meaning everything took longer to accomplish. I did have the benefit of
working with 13 other fantastic authors from this group on the box set and
learned SO MUCH.
So
what about those other three books I was supposed to complete? Book two was
supposed to be the fifth installment in my Covington Falls Chronicles series.
However, somewhere along the line it became not Book 5 in that series, but Book
1 in a WHOLE NEW SERIES. It’s set in another fictional town, only this one is
in Florida. It centers on a prized pig named Matilda
who inherits a fortune from her eccentric owner. Oh yes, there are also three
women competing for custody of the pig (and control of the money, of course) as well as a trio of sexy men who might win their hearts.
The
other two books are part of another series. This one is a contemporary
romance/women’s fiction. It’s also set in Florida (different town) and it
follows three former childhood friends who return to their hometown and become
involved in rehabilitating an old dinner theatre called The Paradise. I
finished the first book a couple years ago, but book 2 and 3 still need to be
put down on paper.
The
third idea is another series that is perhaps the craziest concept I’ve ever
come up with. My heroine is a spoiled heiress who dies and then gets recruited
as a celestial matchmaker, helping soul mates find their One True Love before
it's too late. It’s crazy and weird and hilariously funny…It is also so far
away from anything else I’ve ever written. A little scary.
So…yeah…that’s
a lot of books. And I have a demanding full time job. I don’t know how I will
possibly do them. I need a plan. I need help. I need to find that impossibly
rich tycoon so I can quit the day job and write full time.
Hmmm…okay...writing
all those books might happen first.

Best of 2014 Blog Hop
Welcome to the Best of 2014 Blog Hop hosted by Bookhounds & I Am A Reader.
My pick is In Your Dreams by Kristan Higgins. It’s a story about a guy (Jack Holland) who spent his whole life waiting to be a hero. Then when he finally gets his chance things go horribly wrong. He needs to escape town and all the folks who think he’s a hero. Emmaline Neal needs a date to a wedding…her ex-fiancé’s wedding. Jack is perfect, and as it turns out, he may also be perfect for her. This book is funny and poignant and sweet.

I’m a voracious reader so I’ve wracked up an impressive number of reads this year. Choosing one is hard…but I’ll try.
Kristin Higgins is one of my favorite authors. She is a master at humor but also manages inject the perfect emotional note. She can make you laugh and cry on the same page. She is the kind of writer I want to model myself after.
So my giveaway is a print copy of In Your Dreams AND a print edition of my latest book By Christmas a sweet holiday romance and Book 4 in my Covington Falls Chronicles series (don’t worry each book works as a stand alone).
Jilted bride, Noelle Robinson, had planned to leave town and skip the holidays. A family crisis changes everything, and now she’s out to save the family business and Christmas for Covington Falls. Soon she’s dealing with parades, a cantankerous ass (the animal kind) and negotiating disputes with Santa’s elves. But it’s Michael Campbell, the brother of the man who shattered her dreams, who is threatening to disrupt her peace on earth…and claim her heart.

Clean Indie Reads Fall Sale
I'm very happy to be participating in the Clean Indie Reads Blog Hop.
Clean Indie
Reads, the home of flinch-free fiction, is having a sale October 5th
– 11th
Here’s
the link to the list of Clean Indie Reads books on sale.
This
week all the participating bloggers are answering the same question. Then we’re
saying a little bit about our books.
The question…
Do the changing seasons
influence your writing and/or choice of books to read?
I
don’t know how much the seasons change my writing. I live in South Florida so
the seasons don’t really change.
(It’s basically hot & humid, hotter & more humid and a few blessed
months of not as hot & humid.) My reading habits change a little, but
that’s mostly because of the book selection. There is a big influx of summer
reads and then Christmas reads. You can’t get away from them, and I do enjoy them
so it’s not a hardship.
Speaking of Christmas
books, my latest release is a holiday romance. It’s part of a holiday box set,
SWEET CHRISTMAS KISSES, 14 holiday romances on sale for only 99 cents. Yep...14 books…99 cents.
The best news…the set hit
the USA Today Best Seller list its first week out at #51!!!!
This
holiday season, warm your heart with 14 Sweet Christmas Kisses, a bundle of
PG-rated romance novels and novellas from USA Today, national bestselling, and
award-winning authors. Sweet Christmas Kisses takes you from small-town USA to
England, Scotland, and even Ecuador; from the beach to snow-capped mountains,
and to the wild—sometimes magical—west.
My
contribution is BY CHRISTMAS, Book 4
of my Covington Falls Chronicles series. Here’s a short blurb
